The Cuba Tourist Board invited travel agents and trade partners to their annual Cuba Night last week to celebrate the success of the Canadian market and to bring everyone up to speed on the latest product offerings and development updates.

Cuba is still very much on a roll with Canadians as is most apparent from our arrival numbers on the island. For the 16th consecutive year 1 million Canadian have already paid a visit, which reaffirms our status as the #1 source market for Cuba by a wide margin.

The Cuba Tourist Board was eager to express their confidence and support for the Canadian market in view of the inevitable onslaught of Americans. They stated, “We have always been and will always be thankful to our friends; those who gave us a hand when we needed it most.” Even during those most difficult times, Cuba was determined to safeguard its culture and is committed to continue to do so.

Cuba’s tourism industry is most definitely in a major expansion mode. The immediate future will see new properties in Havana, Varadero and Cayo Guillermo managed by Kempinsky, Iberostar and Muthu respectively; while Cayo Las Brujas will be adding 2 properties to be run by Sercotel and Banyan Tree. And, Pullman Cayo Coco is adding rooms to 2 new sections. In total, there will be 3000+ new hotel rooms opening through April 2017.

7 new destinations are also under development: Peninsula de Ramón in Holguín, and the keys Sabinal (north of Camaguey), and Paredón Grande and Romano (North of Ciego de Avila); along with the Golf Destinations Punta Colorada (Pinar del Río), El Salado (Artemisa) and Carboneras (Matanzas).s here.
