A darling Pumpkin recently wrote:
“Ivanna is strangely silent on AC's latest move to zero commission on Tango Fares. I was hoping to see a rant from her!"
And of course she is right. I have been remiss in stepping onto the Tango dance floor. It's a slippery one, dahrlings. Waxed and well-worn from years of the two-step…
Why would a carrier who understands the value of an efficient distribution channel such as travel agents cut back on paying a percentage of a sale? These people have spread sheets and charts and pencils, Pumpkins. They don't make decisions based on a whimsy whoop. But they've left the lot of us feeling like we bent over a bit too fast in the shower…
Personally, I think a better lubricant was in order. Pulling out like that from 7% to 0 can leave a girl agape.
Will WestJet follow AC's lead in the commission waltz? As I recall it should be more of a 1, 2, 3 – 1, 2, 3, -- not 5-7-0.
It's no wonder I'm tripping over this latest step in 'travel agents have to earn their keep' diatribe. Which of course is absolutely true. Nobody wants a hand out. (Ok, I do. But that's different. I'll genuFlex at the feet of the almighty dollar 'til the luggage comes home.) Just sayin'.
