Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

No News Don't Mean There Ain't News

The travel industry talking drum beats quickly and loudly Pumpkins. Long before a PR person has opened their thesaurus in search of superior superlatives, the rumour mill has ‘released’ the information, though details may remain sketchy. The old ‘loose lips sinks ships’ line doesn’t appear to have any traction in this business, dahrlings, though I might argue that these particular lips have raised a few boats in their time.

But right now in the news game there’s a whole lot of wait-and-see going on. Oh, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes – big news is coming from TravelBrands, Air Canada and Contac among others – if we’re reading the smoke signals correctly. The second coming of JC – Carroll that is – is much talked about, but not official. We’re still hanging out at the check-out aisle for that one.

We do know the next destination for JK – Captain John Kirk -- who did a great job in building packaged product at PD. He’s escaping to wee Canjet Vacations, where his start-up style will be an asset. By the way, Kirk can do a Jamaican patois that would put a certain mayor to shame, if shame was part of his dubious DNA.

Well, Pumpkins, as the travel agent said to the supplier, ‘Don’t change that channel!’

Ivanna Gabbalot

Columnist

Part legend, part myth, all woman: Ivanna Gabbalot is OJ’s gossip columnist and considers herself the industry’s conscience. Equally annoying to Open Jaw management and inflated egos in C-suites everywhere, Ivanna works infrequently, preferring to snipe from the sidelines.
