I could barely reach the seat in front!
Sleeping on a plane is easy when you're lying flat!
"Are you sure you'd like the Sauvignon Blanc?"
Which one should I open first?!
I was recently invited to try out Finnair’s new business class service to visit Helsinki for a 2-night jaunt. The experience has jaded me for life!
From the moment we sat down, we were treated like queens. After popping our carry-on luggage into the spacious overhead bins, and peeping through our little amenity packs (earplugs, fancy eye mask, socks) our shoes were whisked away in purpose-made little bags and champagne started flowing. Once we were in the air, we were presented with 2 menus - for food and wine – and those lovely little hot towels to freshen up before our late-night dinner.
The selection of movies, TV shows, music and games was excellent, but after eating, what we all craved on this overnight flight was sleep. Full and a little tipsy, I snuggled under my little comforter, stretched out on my lie-flat bed, and slept for 4.5 hours. Bliss! The whole flight experience was marvelous – the flight attendants were gracious and politely ignored my squeals of joy on discovering there were snacks and drinks freely available ALL NIGHT LONG.
As expected, Finnair certainly did manage to “put the glamour back in business class” - as Allister Paterson, Finnair’s “token Canuck” explained – “It only made sense to have business class service on this route” which gives easy access to much of Europe and huge swaths of Asia. Whether your clients are travelling for business or pleasure, they will definitely appreciate the extra legroom and amenities – and it’s no surprise that it is a huge success already.
For once, I was absolutely gutted when the pilot announced that our flight was coming to an end. I only had the chance to watch one movie! I only tried a couple of the wines! I hadn’t even sampled the liqueurs! The one thing that kept me from refusing to move from my seat/bed was the thought that I’d be doing it all over again in 3 days’ time.
