Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Zany News

Well, dahrlings, our most beloved travel broad [which is the highest compliment I can pay to a fellow human] is leaving Air Canada. The Nino news was bad enough. And now Zeina.

Who will replace the irreplaceable? Some say the return of a mighty western jet setter who has been somewhere else could fill the malaise caused by this departure. But what do I know stuck down here in a Leaside basement.

Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Watch Where You Step

You know those times, dahrlings, when you climb up your behind so far that you can no longer tell the difference between a really bad idea and just a bad one?

Sort of like smoking a bunch of doobies and thinking you’re brilliant. (Although with the potency nowadays, you’d effectively be lobotomized.)

Anyhoo, there’s far too much of that going around the online travel biz. (The behind part. I don’t know about the doobies.) I read yesterday the big news that Concur bought hotel site TripBam.  Trip.  Bam.  Evidently, when someone thought of putting those 2 words together, the universal ‘bad idea’ directive propelling humans to move right along to the next brainwave was ignored.

Then there’s TripTogether. These folks are billed as social travel pioneers, Pumpkins. Get it together, right on, right on.

No doubt there is a TripApart in the offing. TripTease? What about Trip-A-Rary? TripGoThereMe. My preference would be TripMe. Rhymes with bite me.

Youth is wasted on the young, Pumpkins. As is money. “Hey, Dude. What’s that hotel site we heard about -- tripbad, tripbum, tripclobber?”

Careful where you step, Pumpkins. The murky halls of creative brilliance are littered with poop.
