As we in travel know well, dahrlings, there’s inbound. And there’s outbound.
One involves coming while the other exits. Sort of different, no? And, frankly Pumpkins, most people aren’t apt to confuse their ins and outs.
So why is it that whenever government types announce discussions with stakeholders from all aspects of the travel industry, they harp on about tourism?
What does the ex-Premier of Alberta’s $40k spend on a trip to South Africa have to do with visiting the CN Tower? An international trip to a state funeral is an outty – both for the travel industry and the tax payers. Fishing in Meech Lake, on the other hand, is tourism – which is defined as an inny.
Now, some outties and also innies. That’s when a Canadian behaves like a tourist. Or a domestic. (it’s the same thing.) For instance, when the alpha dinkette here flies to Whistler for a ski. As opposed to the following week, when she flies to the Alps to ski (outbound). Oh, and almost forgot, she flies out on a Crystal Cruise right after that (outlandish).
Both are superb examples of the travel industry at work, Pumpkins. And her not.
Let’s face it, dahrlings, there’s really no comparison between getting outted and being entered. It’s all just another reflection of the government not knowing whether it’s coming or going.
