The airline originally placed an order for 80 E195-E2 aircraft back in JUL 2021 with the intention to operate the new E2s to domestic destinations such as YOW, YUL, YHZ, and YYZ. It also opened Porter up to the possibility of a continental route network, with destinations including U.S. sun destinations, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Highlights of future destinations include Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, and Nassau. Initial routes for the aircraft have yet to be announced, but are expected to be revealed later in 2022.
As previously reported by Open Jaw, Porter is Embraer’s North American launch customer for the E2 planes. The total aircraft order is valued at up to USD $5.82 billion at current list prices, with 30 firm commitments and 50 purchase right options, including the ability to purchase rights to smaller E190-E2s.
The E195-E2 can accommodate between 120 and 146 passengers, and does not feature middle seats. Porter has yet to finalize preferred configuration and additional passenger experience details, such as in-flight entertainment and onboard service.
According to Porter, the new planes also hold sustainable features. The 195-E2 is certified to the strictest international noise standards, with a noise footprint that is up to 76 per cent smaller than previous-generation narrowbody aircraft.
The initial order of 30 E2s will emit 165,000 fewer annual tons of CO2 than older-generation Airbus A319 narrow-bodies. Compared to the new Airbus 220-300s, 30 E2s emit 45,000 fewer tons of CO2 every year.
