Nice try though.
I do love a good battle, Pumpkins. The mudslinging. The rhetoric. It’s exhilarating to watch them dig into each other’s past affiliations - reputations flying like panties at a sorority sleep over. (They don’t really do that, boys. Calm down. It’s their half cup lace bras they fling at each other.)
Transat’s challenge of Sunwing’s Canadianness to the CTA was a great show of dirty politics. I’ve seen a lot of poop fly in my day, dahrlings, but requests for the Hunters' birth certificates was a new low in travel. Transat stopped short of implying they are radically raised Anglicans though. Honestly.
Apparently, Debbie Cabana, Transat spokeswoman, said they had become concerned Sunwing’s operations had fallen out of Canadian hands and that “decisions were being made in Europe by mother-company TUI.”
What tipped Transat off is Sunwing’s “foreign fleet of aircraft and foreign manpower in the cockpit” (!). In other words, there’s a lot of TUI stuff over on Faskin. And sometimes a duck is a duck. So the Canadian Transportation Agency had to look into whether there's “de facto control by a foreign entity through their ability to exert control by any direct or indirect means.”
Well, I don’t know about you, Pumpkins, but if I think about every time I succumbed to de facto control by a foreign entity exerting themselves over me, I could be deported!
