Guests dined to a DJ entertained dinner

For the launch of the 2012/2013 season, Total Vacations has a resolution to get FIT. But it’s not about hitting the gym and pumping iron. The tour operator is promoting flexible, independent travel, and as V.P. Tammy Mosher-Cecco says, “FIT is back and here to stay.”

Kicking off the 1st of a series of events, 250 agents gathered at YTO’s Doubletree Hilton Airport hotel to take part in a tradeshow and dinner presentation. Total Vacations also hosted 5 destination seminars highlighting preferred partner, Mexico; Riviera Nayarit; as well as new destinations, Colombia; El Salvador; and Israel.

It was an upbeat event, despite the lack of firemen (which I hear were very popular last year) and unfortunately, the model from the event poster didn’t make an appearance either. But Total Vacations still kept guests on the edge of their seats with a DJ entertaining during dinner and multiple prize giveaways.

What makes Total Vacations different from other tour operators? Take their partnership with Mexico for instance. Total Vacations sells more than just the Mexico beach product. They also offer tours and excursions to Mexico’s Best Kept Secrets and are one of the only companies that do so.

“The typical FIT traveller is looking for a unique experience and wants to avoid herding with the mass market,” said Mosher-Cecco. This is how FIT is making its comeback. According to the Total V.P., agents who sell FIT give their customers great value. And now, with the growing competition of online booking engines, the difference is that agents can offer more flexibility and personalized service.

Maybe FIT has a little more to do with fitness than we thought. It definitely has to do with the well-being and overall satisfaction of working in the trade. “Being FIT is all about strengthening your client base, providing healthier profits and increasing flexibility of our product offerings,” said Mosher-Cecco. “FIT should be kept in the front of agents’ minds over ITC.”

So consider Total Vacations your personal trainer. FIT with Total Vacations may be the one resolution worth sticking to.
