Just when ACTA cashes in a promotional deal with Regent, the cruise line reveals they no longer pay commissions on the whole fare. Talk about your sticky wicket, Pumpkins.
On September 12th, Regent’s Senior Vice-President, Randall Soy, told ACTA, “As the only all-inclusive luxury line, we provide travel agents with industry-leading commissions on cruise fares… We are thrilled to spread this high-earning potential to Canadian agents and welcome ACTA as an extension of our sales team.”
Then, on September 14th, Regent announces they will invoice part of the cruise fare as noncommissionable.
Now what? ACTA can’t very well come out with a, "How could you?! You travel agent bullies.” Waving your fist in the air at someone you’ve been fisting money from is a bit tacky, even for a non-profit association which sells its member list for a profit.
Gawd! I just hate it when that happens. (It’s like the time my gorgeous gardener’s bush trimming skills lay elsewhere. My husband still thinks the hedges are supposed to look like that.) Ethics are so difficult.
Regent spokeswoman, Susan Robison explains, “It is important to look holistically at the changes we made in order to understand the net effect.”
I couldn’t agree more. There's definitely a hole somewhere here. Who’s lobbying who?
