The U.S. government is expected to announce on Friday 10JUN that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will lift its requirement for all travellers to test negative before entering the country, according to news sources.
As reported by CNN, a "senior administration official" told the network the requirement will be removed at midnight 12JUN.
The official added that the Biden administration plans to work with airlines to ensure a "smooth transition" as restrictions ease.
The requirement has been in place for the U.S. since JAN 2021, which mandates that all incoming travellers ages 2 and older present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than one day before travel.
