South Africa's cabinet has ended all of the country's COVID-19 as of 23JUN, saying that the measures have "served their purpose" after 26 months since their implementation. With the latest update, South Africa has ended its indoors mask mandate, limits on gatherings, and the requirement for proof of vaccination to enter the country.

“It’s time to step into a brave new world”, says South African Tourism ACEO, Themba Khumalo. The tourism organization notes that with the end of COVID-19 restrictions, South African Tourism is now able to open up more experiences and activities to tourists.

South African Tourism also notes that the removal of COVID-19 measures comes after the country exited a "mild" fifth infection wave, which was predicted by epidemiological analysis to decline by mid-JUN.

"We continue to work with partners and our policymakers towards easier visa facilitation, improved airlift for a better-connected continent and the rest of the world and, of course, providing value for money for both the domestic traveler and all our international visitors," South African Tourism noted in a statement.
