When Travel Nevada comes to town, it’s best to expect the unexpected.

One moment you’re just going about your business at a destination's information session and reception, the next you feel like you’re flying over the wide-open vistas of the Nevada wilderness.

Some 30 agents from B.C.'s Lower Mainland attended the unique the ‘Real Wild West’ event at Vancouver’s popular FlyOver Canada attraction – a sound and motion experience where participants feel like they’re flying while they’re sitting suspended, feet dangling, before a 20-metre spherical screen.

They experienced some of the iconic landscapes of the American West, including Lake Tahoe in northern Nevada and the Las Vegas Strip – all in under 30-minutes of travel time!

As they journeyed over scenes from the Real Wild West, they felt the wind and mist on their faces, smelled the scents of nature, and swooped, dipped and turned in flight motion seats.

It definitely was a break from the everyday – a truly unique way for representatives from the state - Reno-Tahoe Territory, Reno Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, Visit Fallon Nevada, Travel Representation of America and Pony Express Territory - to educate agents about the destination in a fun and interactive way.

“Many people are familiar with Las Vegas and the wonderful entertainment options available to them on the Strip, but are maybe less acquainted with the rest of the state,” explained Yennifer Diaz, market manager at Travel Nevada. “We hope this event will educate tour operators about the abundant outdoor recreation, charming towns, and rich culture found throughout Nevada.

“Canada has always been an important market to Travel Nevada. As we emerge from the pandemic, it is even more important for Travel Nevada to maintain its presence here to remind Canadians of the abundant opportunities available to them in the state. Vancouver is especially important due to its proximity to Nevada and ease of access into the state via airline connectivity.”
