Who loves to be entertained in a very BIG way, to have plenty of dining choices, to gamble and be naughty if the mood strikes?

If you answered “Canadians” to each of those questions – you’re right – that is indeed our profile – and Las Vegas’ statistics provide the proof. Canadians are the city that never sleeps’ largest international market. We can’t get enough of the fun and glitz – but, that’s what everyone always says about us crazy Canucks, right?

OK – so, it is true that Vegas has been a bargain of late and the other sure truism about Canadians is that we are more than a little cost conscious… Bargain pricing never hurts when you’re trying to attract a Canadian – and it hasn’t hurt that it’s very easy to get to Vegas these days. We’ve enjoyed a 16% increase in air lift from across Canada – a significant overall increase considering some markets have actually cut capacity.

Despite the past several years’ somewhat challenging times, Las Vegas was preparing for the inevitable resurgence in visitors with a $2.4 billion new Terminal 3 at McCarran International. The new terminal is due to open next Wednesday (27JUN) with 14 gates that will handle all international operations as well as other sched services. Terminal 2 is scheduled to close with the opening of T3.

Vox and 19 of their partners from the Las Vegas CVB, hotels and attractions were in Canada recently to celebrate the success of the Canadian market and schmooze with their trade partners. Their annual visit to Canada took them to Vancouver and Calgary as well as Toronto for travel agent training sessions and mini-trade show as well as an appreciation luncheon atop YTO’s Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.
