Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

National Dentist's Day Is Coming Soon!

Mark your calendars, Pumpkins, because May 2nd is the very first annual Travel Agent’s Day! I can’t wait. Chocolates and flowers will be going down like men at a cheerleading convention.

Dedicating the first Wednesday of May to travel agents is the brainchild of Uniglobe Carefree travel in Saskatoon. Carefree argues that if mothers and fathers and secretaries have their own day, surely travel agents merit one. God knows we’ve berthed enough cruisers.

It’s one of those things where you say to yourself ‘why didn’t I think of that’?

Ironically, the downside of all this recognition is the publicity it will generate. Before you can say “agent du jour”, plastic surgeons and teachers and bathroom attendants will be clamouring for their own special day. And postal workers. They’re like that. Although I could definitely get behind Firemen. Yes siree. I’d be glad to show my gratitude to those hose bearing, fire-extinguishing, pole riding young men.

Oh yes, I feel Bitchy Diva Day coming …

Perhaps if we broadened the scope to Dedicated, Hard Working, Smart, 90% Female, Professional's Day - we would get more mileage. (Notice I left room for a couple of smart men).
