Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Something's Rotten in the State of Travel

I knew 2012 wouldn’t be easy, Pumpkins. But I wasn’t expecting a total breakdown in sanity.

Two certifiably paranoid mid-air freak-outs within one week: first a flight attendant, then a pilot. Both taken away and tossed into rubber comfort class cabins. It’s the invasion of the airline mind snatchers! (Could be slim pickins).

There’s no longer a Friisdahl in sight at Thomas Cook. Is that even legal?

Then the whole clapping and walking incident at Air Canada (hopefully no one tried to chew gum at the same time). Bureau no longer has a desk at WestJet. And yesterday, Travelzest flaps about their underlying profits. Where exactly are the profits lying and who’s on top of them?

And to really top things off, Air Canada’s Peter Wilson and the CITC’s Steve Gillick retire today. Coincidence?

It all doesn’t feel right, Pumpkins. There’s a strange wind blowing -- I’m sensitive to such things. A disruption in the travel time-space continuum is coming down the pipe.

Maybe Claude Taylor is climbing through a spatial worm hole, shifting travel back to 1992! And Air Canada will be profitable and we'll make commissions!! Either that or the Mayans were on to something.
