Nino Montagnese, VP sales and marketing at ACV with a very happy Carolyn James
Zeina Gedeon with Minister Skerritt
A packed house was there to learn more about St. Kitts and Nevis
It's clear that Carolyn James is one happy camper. Or to be precise, one happy tourist board director. That's because she reps the twin island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis, which has been added to the ACV line-up for this winter.
With a matching smile, the islands' minister of tourism Ricky Skerritt travelled recently to T.O. to meet with his new-best-friend Zeina Gedeon, president of ACV, and address a group of travel agents over a tropical-themed lunch at the swanky Pantages Hotel.
"We're a relatively new destination, but for a small fighter we punch well above our weight," he told the group. "Your clients receive 'two islands for the price of one' and get to enjoy our rich history and diverse culture."
Officials are clearly thrilled to have direct service back after a two year hiatus with no flights from Canada. AC flights (with 120Y + 12B seating) will operate non-stop on Fridays from December to April out of YYZ.
And what to do when you're there? Stay at accommodation ranging from the sparkling large Marriott to the charming Ottley’s Plantation Inn. Experience St. Kitts’ tropical outback on the Scenic Railway. Try ATV touring or ziplining. Take the kids to learn cricket. Or head to sleepy and picturesque sister island Nevis for a true break from “reality” - just for a day or for the entire vacation.
As Zeina told me, "We've been serving some of our Caribbean destinations for decades - 65 years in the case of Barbados. But there's always the customer who wants something 'new' - and with the scenery, the food and the great activities, we think St. Kitts and Nevis will be great!"
