Paris’ iconic Louvre will be capping visitor numbers in 2023 to 30,000 daily entries compared to 45,000 daily visitors pre-pandemic.
The museum says the new change is “so the visit would be a pleasurable experience, especially for first-timers to the museum who make up 60% of entries.” As reported by the Art Newspaper, the iconic museum in Paris has been struggling “for years” with over-attendance. Pre-pandemic, Louvre employees had gone on strike citing "unprecedented deterioration of conditions" amid record crowds.
