Sunwing Cancels Most of Remaining Seasonal Service from Regina

Sunwing

Sunwing has reportedly cancelled most of the remainder of its seasonal schedule from YXE. The new cuts to service are effective 04FEB and come after the operator pulled all flights from Regina from 29DEC - 03FEB following what it admitted were "failures" in holiday travel service.

In a statement, the company says, "Following the preliminary cancellations in January, the difficult decision to cancel more of our winter program was necessary due to operational and business constraints that would prevent us from delivering the standards of service our customers in Regina expect and deserve when travelling with Sunwing."

Weekly service from YXE to destinations in Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico isl affected by the cuts.

However, weekly Sunday flights to Puerto Vallarta beginning 05FEB will apparently continue, as will select Family Day weekend service to Mexican destinations as follows:

  • Puerto Vallarta,  17FEB;
  • Mazatlán, 17FEB; and
  • Cancun on both 18FEB and 20FEB.

For customers whose vacation plans are affected by the cuts, Sunwing says it is offering the ability to transfer vacation packages to same-day departures from Winnipeg, Saskatoon or other Canadian airports at originally booked pricing, pending availability.

"Alternatively, customers can choose to cancel their vacations for a full refund to their original form of payment, if preferred. Customers can contact their local travel agent or the Sunwing Sales Centre at 1-877-786-9464 to initiate their change or cancellation," the operator's statement reads.
