There are some fun new promotions in gear regarding the Lone Star State, and to help spread the word, Texas Tourism, along with its partners, recently hosted an après work VIP cocktail party at Toronto’s bustling downtown Hyatt Regency hotel.
The evening included munchies, mingling and a mini-manicure for guests featuring O.P.I’s new Spring/Summer 2011 Texas Collection of nail lacquer. Texas is the first American state to have a collection named after it, and with punchy colours to choose from such as Austin-tatious turquoise, Big hair…big nails, Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em, and Houston, We Have A Purple, the gals in the room were looking glam.
Texas representatives took a few moments to speak about the culture, history and many fabulous cities for visitors to explore. Canada is already the 2nd largest international market for Texas, and, in an effort to tap into the Canadian women’s market, who have created the Girl’s Getaway to Texas contest in collaboration with Chatelaine and Flare magazines and Air Canada Vacations.
There are two prizes to be won. The first is a trip for 4 to Dallas and Fort Worth, where winners will see top attractions such as the Sixth Floor Museum, Nasher Sculpture Center and the Dallas Museum of Art. Also on the itinerary is the Stockyards Championship Rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum, Billy Bob's Texas, Four Day Weekend Improvisational Comedy and museums of the Fort Worth Cultural District. This prize includes gift certificates to downtown's Sundance Square and Ellerbe Fine Foods.
The second prize is a trip for two to Houston and San Antonio where winners can visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Downtown Aquarium and Houston Museum of Natural Science, Sea World San Antonio and San Antonio Museum of Art. There will be a chance to indulge at Norris of Houston Spa and Lantana Spa in San Antonio and shop at all of the top designer stores in the Galleria mall. Shopping is tax free for international visitors, so this is an opportunity to really have some fun.
