Sunwing Cancels Two Halifax Routes, Reduces Service on 3rd Route

Adding to a pattern of recent service cancellations, particularly in the Prairie and Maritime provinces, Sunwing has dropped two existing routes from YHZ to Orlando and Cayo Largo, and is halving service on a third.

As reported by the Star, a spokesperson from the airport confirmed on 22JAN that the operator has cancelled the once-weekly scheduled routes beginning in FEB. Additionally, the spokesperson verified that Sunwing's twice-weekly flight to VRA from YHZ, scheduled to start in FEB, will be reduced to once-weekly.

The new cancellations follow a string of service reductions by the operator, which began when Sunwing cancelled all  flights from Saskatchewan in late DEC 2022 until FEB 2023. Since then, Sunwing has also cancelled routes from YQM, YFC, YWG, YSB and YYB, among others.
