The Dumbification Of Travel

It’s not enough to have a vacation anymore, Pumpkins. No, no. Our vacations now have to have names. Which basically means you come up with something – anything, really – and add ‘cation’ to it.

So far there are Staycations, Naycations, Kidcations, Fornications, and now, freshly minted from a cheap PR jargonator, I bring you “travellers are trending to Smartcations this summer.” No kidding. Apparently it’s a vacation – but it’s bought ‘smart’. Wow. I imagine after that hit the presses, thousands of consumers were like, “By George! All these years I didn’t have to buy stupid? Why didn’t someone come up with this before?”

I wish the trend setters would stop trying so hard.

Here’s a cation they might want to try -- just shut up and go away already.
