Hundreds are reported dead with the number expected to continue climbing following a
7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Turkey and Syria on 06FEB.
The quake also collapsed the Gaziantep Castle, a historic site and tourist attraction in southeastern Turkey, reports CNN. According to archaeological excavations, the castle was first built as a watchtower by the Romans in the second and third centuries C.E. and has been expanded throughout history. Most recently, the castle served as the Gaziantep Defense and Heroism Panoramic Museum.
