Rio Expects Carnival’s Return to Generate $1 Billion in Tourism Business

Rio de Janeiro’s famous Carnival celebration returns at full capacity in FEB, 2023, following pandemic-related restrictions. The revived Carnival is expected to generate nearly USD $1 billion in business, an all-time high.

As reported by Skift, around 80,000 tourists from abroad are expected to travel to Rio for the Carnival, up from 55,000 in 2020. Over 150 Carnival street parties are expected to take over Rio during the week of 18-21FEB, though celebrations will extend for the whole month.
