The ArriveCan App Isn’t Dead. Its Use is Just Changing

When the ArriveCan app became optional in OCT 2022 as the pandemic wound down, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) initially saw usage drop to 10 per cent of previous levels. However, the CBSA says there has since been an uptick in the app’s use as an advance declaration tool, a purpose for ArriveCAN which pax at seven Canadian airports can take advantage of.

According to a Global News analysis of usage data since ArriveCan became optional, nearly 15 per cent of travellers arriving in Canada from 01OCT 2022 to 31JAN 2023 used ArriveCan. CBSA data shows that it is 30 to 45 per cent quicker to use the app than self-serve kiosks, depending on the airport.
