It was a sold out crowd at Toronto’s Old Mill on a snowy February eve. It’s not often in travel that you come face-to-face with such genuine enthusiasm. But Ensemble seems to bring out the best in both their members and suppliers. Their recent European show of togetherness involved reps from various countries including Spain, Ireland, Germany and Great Britain along with preferred supplier partners.

According to Ensemble’s Director of Business Development, Cristie Palmer-Newell, the shows were sold out in each Canadian centre. “Creating an environment where members can meet one-on-one with tourist representatives is invaluable. It allows them to develop direct relationships,” said Cristie. “It’s our job to make sure they have the tools they need to sell the product.”

Since Ensemble produces approximately 80% of the volume for most suppliers present at the event, it would seem the tools are being put to good use.

Spain’s Jorge Rubio Navarro indicated that the idea for the European showcase came from discussions with Palmer-Newell. They felt that a lot of attention is placed on ensuring agents receive adequate ITC training, but the summer European season doesn’t attract the same focus. And with the strong dollar, this is seen as the year to really take advantage of the opportunities Europe presents.

Presentations took place in the afternoon, ending with an intimate trade show complete with snacks and open bar, followed by dinner.
