French National Strike Disrupting Travel this Week

A four-day national strike in France is creating significant travel disruptions, including delays and cancellations, according to airlines and French officials.

Transportation workers walked off the job on 20MAR in protest over the French government’s planned pension changes. The strike is expected to last until 23MAR.

According to Business Travel News Europe, French aviation authorities have requested that all airlines reduce flight schedules to CDG and other airports. Air France says it intends to operate 95 per cent of flights during the strike, but warns that last-minute delays and cancellations could be necessary. Eurostar says it plans to run normal train service on 21MAR while SNCF says it will operate at a similar level as in other recent labour actions.
