Tourist Faces Deportation After Posting Nude Photo in Bali

A Russian tourist could be deported from Indonesia after posting a semi-nude photo of himself in Bali, according to CNN. Identified only as Yuri, the man shared a photo of himself naked from the waist down atop a sacred volcano.

The man has since removed the photo and apologized. A path for reconciliation has been mediated for him by a local politician which involves participation in a traditional Balinese ceremony and daily check-ins with the immigration office.

Bali’s government has been cracking down on tourists. In MAR the tourism board posted a list of expectations including not posting “offensive, vulgar pictures to social media.” The government also banned foreigners from renting motorbikes and required proper visas for international visitors planning to work from the island.
