Explora Journeys Chooses Oceanographer As Godmother For Explora I

Dr. Sylvia Earle, world-renowned oceanographer, explorer, and conservationist.

Explora Journeys has announced that oceanographer, explorer, and conservationist Dr. Sylvia Earle, Founder and Chairman of Mission Blue, will be the Godmother of its first ship, EXPLORA I.

Dr. Earle is a celebrated pioneer of deep-sea exploration and has dedicated her life to ocean conservation. She has been a vocal advocate for protecting the world's oceans and marine life, and her expertise and leadership have been recognized globally.

As Godmother of EXPLORA I, Dr. Earle will name the ship during its naming ceremony to be held in Civitavecchia, near Rome, Italy, on 08JUL, 2023.

EXPLORA I, the first of a planned fleet of up to six ships that uses new environmental supporting technologies to reduce their environmental impact. The ships are ready to adapt to alternative energy solutions as they become available.

EXPLORA I will depart for her 15-night maiden journey “Into Epic Fjords and the Arctic Circle” on 17JUL, 2023 from Southampton, UK.
