On 03APR, Google launched a new trial Price Guarantee offer on Google Flights. The Price Guarantee offer allows customers to book flights on a range of airlines and if the price subsequently drops, customers are automatically refunded the difference in cost. The Price Guarantee offer is available to anyone free of charge, and Google promises to provide the refund within 48 hours of a price change.
A lot of terms and conditions apply, and the Price Guarantee is only offered on flights the company says it’s sure will not drop.
However, the automatic refund is precedent setting as Simply Flying notes that “many rival booking companies offer some form of price guarantee but generally require the customer to find the cheaper fare themselves and then alert the website to it.”
