Emirates To Fly Daily ex YYZ Following New Blue Skies Agreement

Emirates Airbus A380

Following the Blue Skies agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Canada announced in the first week of APR, Emirates has announced that it is increasing the frequency of Canadian service, with two additional flights per week between Toronto and Dubai. From 20APR, daily flights will operate on the busy route to meet demand, said the airline in a release 11APR.

As Open Jaw reported on 07APR, the expanded air agreement allows for up to 21 more flights per week between the two countries, adding 50 per cent more flights than had been permitted. Ottawa said at the time of the announcement that the agreement is meant both to increase connections between the two countries and help Canadians access the Indo-Pacific through the major hub of DXB.

“Business ties between Canada and the UAE have grown significantly over the years and the expanded air services will help to further nurture business and trade," said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, in the Emirates' release.

"The expansion of air services is also an affirmation of the growing importance of the UAE to Canada’s global connectivity, which we can support through our global network of more than 130 destinations. Together with the relevant authorities, our codeshare and loyalty programme partner Air Canada, and our valued industry partners, we look forward to playing a role in facilitating more tourism and trade opportunities between the two nations.”

Emirates operates an A380 aircraft on the Toronto-Dubai route, accommodating 491 passengers. With the two additional flights per week, Emirates will offer close to 2,000 additional seats to serve the route, representing a 40 per cent increase in capacity between its hub city of Dubai and the Canadian gateway. It says the Toronto route is popular among pax travelling between Canada and India, UAE, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.
