The Unparalleled Pampering Of A Seabourn Cruise: Day 1
On The Seas with The Travel Lady [Lesley Keyter]

From Suite 511 on the Seabourn Odyssey: I am beginning to feel just a little bit pampered.

Little touches in this spacious suite are noteworthy such as the large walk in closet with tons of wooden hangers, a marble double vanity (who can share their vanity – really?) and tub with separate shower (who ever thought a tub and a shower could be combined?). Even a discreet clock on the wall is a useful addition not seen on many cruise lines. Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom and my choice of imported soaps … oh bliss …. not to mention the bottle of champagne on ice. And how’s this – of course it is Champagne with a capital C and not sparkling wine. Oh yes – I checked the label and it comes from Epernay in France…… so there!

Our welcome onboard was delightful with a line up of staff waiting to greet us. We were swiftly relieved of hand luggage and parcels and escorted to our suite. The suites are modern but tasteful with blond woods and warm colours. I particularly like the large sitting area with a good sized couch and two armchairs with a table. Makes for a good office on the high seas – or a pleasant venue for in-room dining. The seating area can also be divided from the sleeping area by thick silk drapes. For an insomniac like myself this is going to come in very handy. I will be able to read my book or even answer my emails at 3 am without disturbing my husband!

I have already taken a tour of the spa – of course! It’s very large for a ship of this size and offers the usual spa treatments at very reasonable prices. There’s a great gym too – and this time I vow to make good use of it because the restaurants look tempting. And right now I am off to sample the food and have some dinner.

Stand by for my next report.
