The Coronation of Charles III in London: A Travel Bonanza?

The coronation of King Charles III will take place in London on 06MAY. The event is set to be a major tourist boom and the country is expecting to bring in over £1-billion from foreign visitors, especially Americans, according to CND English. The economic impact is expected to be similar to Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jublilee in 2015.

Prices have shot up in London hotels, which are charging a “coronation premium” of up to 171 per cent. Many hotels are already sold out, and the rooms remaining are expensive. For example, a room at the Park Plaza at Westminster Bridge costs £559 on the night before the coronation, and cost £309 the weekend before.
