Emirates has announced that it will launch new daily direct service between YUL and DXB beginning on 05JUL.

The new route is the latest new route between Canada and the U.A.E. On 05APR, as Open Jaw reported, Canada signed an air transport agreement under Canada's Blue Sky policy, allowing up to 21 more weekly flights between the two countries. Airlines quickly jumped in to take advantage of this popular and fast-growing route.

Montreal will become the second Canadian city served by the airline; it has operated flights from YYZ to DXB since 2007. Upon the announcement of the Blue Skies agreement, Emirates quickly announced it was expanding YYZ - DXB service to daily flights.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, said, “We have been serving customers with passenger and cargo services to Toronto for over 15 years and when we begin services to Montréal in July, customers will have more choice when planning their travel whether for business, leisure, education or for visiting family and friends. We would like to thank the UAE and Canadian authorities for the enhanced agreements which have made this new destination possible."

Another UAE airline, Etihad, also announced that it is adding one weekly flight to its YYZ-AUH route, making it daily.

Emirates' codeshare partner, Air Canada, became the third airline to add new service under the new Blue Skies agreement. Beginning in OCT, it will fly a new, non-stop route from YVR to Dubai four times weekly. AC's new Vancouver-Dubai flights joins Air Canada's existing daily service between Toronto and Dubai.

Via its codeshare and interline agreements with AC, Emirates' customers have access to Canadian, US and Americas destinations beyond Toronto or Montreal, while Air Canada customers are able to fly on Emirates to Dubai and access cities in Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Far East.
