Major Cities Value Tourism More as Office Vacancies Remain High

Large cities are looking to tourism to revitalize central business districts that have lost workers due to the post-pandemic shift to remote work, reports Skift.

According to a recent report from the World Travel and Tourism Council, tourism to major cities is projected to skyrocket in the coming years. For example, NYC’s tourism value is expected to rise from USD $12.4-billion to $21.73-billion in the next 10 years. The value of the Paris tourism section is projected to rise from $36 to $49-billion in that same period.

Cities are already beginning to change to adapt to the new reality of hybrid work. As Open Jaw reported, the Rockefeller Center is planning to open its first hotel to convert some of its unused office space.
