Invasion of the Sargassum Blob! Smelly Seaweed Spreads in FL, Caribbean

A record-breaking blob of smelly seaweed is arriving in Key West just as Florida’s tourist season hits its stride, reports CNN.

Known as the Great Atlantic Sargassum Seaweed Belt, the floating mass of brown seaweed forms yearly across the Atlantic Ocean but this year spans more than 5,000 miles.The amount of Sargassum seaweed has increased yearly, and set a new monthly record in the Caribbean in APR.
