Canada’s Travel, Tourism Set for Major Recovery this Year — but Business Spending Lags

Canada’s travel and tourism sector is set for a major post-pandemic rebound, according to a new report from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

As reported by CTV News, the sector is predicted to contribute CAD $162.6 billion to the country’s economy in 2023, up 17 per cent since last year. It also comes close to the previous peak of $173.9 billion in 2019.

Beth Potter, President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, added that business spending will likely not fully recover until 2026 - citing factors like virtual technology and long booking windows for conferences and trade shows.
