AC Pax Can Now Chat & Text While Taxiing
Open Jaw

For those Air Canada and Jazz passengers who sit twitching in their seats until they’re able to resume using their Blackberries and smart phones, there’s some good news. Effective immediately, thumbs, fingers and mouths can begin moving as soon as the aircraft turns off the active runway.

AC spokesman Peter Fitzgerald says the carrier recently received permission from Transport Canada for the change. “Up until now, you had to wait until the aircraft stopped and the seatbelt light went off,”

Fitzgerald says. “We think this will be popular as people like to call once they land.”

Any electronic devices must be retrieved prior to landing as all carry-on bags still must be stowed until the seat belt sign is turned off at the gate. Flight attendants will advise customers when mobile phones can be used after arrival.
