Accident Disrupts VIA Service Between Montreal & Toronto
Open Jaw

Due to an accident involving a Canadian National freight train near Cornwall, Ontario, this morning, VIA Rail Canada is either rerouting its Montreal-Toronto trains, in both directions, via Ottawa, or in some cases is replacing its trains with bus service. VIA expects the accident will affect all of today's trains operating on the Montreal-Toronto route and possibly into Tuesday.

As a result, VIA is advising passengers to expect delays of up to approximately two hours in total trip time.

Passengers to and from Cornwall will be provided with alternate transportation.

VIA has also had to temporarily suspend new ticket sales on all trains on the affected route.

For further information call 1 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).

VIA will issue an update as new information becomes available.
