Icelandair Reducing Planned Summer 2011 Service From YYZ
Open Jaw

Icelandair will revise their 2011 summer schedule in Canada as a result of the latest Air Service Agreement between the Icelandic and Canadian Governments which will restrict the number of flights permitted between Iceland and Canada. Icelandair has been operating service from Canada based on an Open Skies Agreement, permitting unlimited scheduled air service for passenger and all-cargo traffic between Canada and Iceland since 2007.

Icelandair will kick-off their 2011 service from Toronto on March 30, 2011 with four flights per week; however, additional flights that were scheduled to begin in April will not operate as planned. In order to comply with this recent policy change, Icelandair is obligated to cancel operation of their Tuesday and Thursday flights from Toronto, reducing the Toronto schedule to four flights per week. Halifax flights will continue as planned starting in May 2011.

"We regret we are unable to offer the Canadian market the frequency we had been anticipating,” said Thorsteinn Egilsson, General Manager, The Americas. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause passengers and if regulations permit, we hope to expand our service from Canada again in the future"

Travel agents requiring assistance as a result of these sched changes are asked to contact the Icelandair Travel Agent Support Desk at (800) 757-7242 ext. 313 or email casalessupport@icelandair.is
