European Tourist Island Declares Itself a Phone-Free Zone

Ulko-Tammio in Finland has declared itself the world’s first phone-free tourist destination, reports CNN Travel.

With its pristine nature and rare bird species, the uninhibited island aims to encourage visitors to disconnect from their smartphones and enjoy their beautiful surroundings. The campaign is voluntary, as the island is still covered by a mobile network, but the goal is to promote face-to-face interactions and engagement with nature.

Visitors can explore the island's nature trails, observe birds from the bird tower, and spend their nights in tents or a cabin provided by Parks & Wildlife Finland.
