New Tours Mean No More FOMO for Plus-Size Travellers

A small but growing market of size-inclusive travel companies is addressing the challenges faced by plus-sized travellers, reports the New York Times. These companies aim to create a sense of “joy, community, and reassurance” to people in bigger bodies at price points comparable to standard group trips.

According to the report, the travel industry has been slow to accommodate the needs of plus-sized travellers thanks to “fat bias” and societal structures. Physical limitations, such as too-small airline seats and unaccommodating amusement park rides, paired with emotional stressors like intimidating pools and beaches, can make travelling “dehumanizing and FOMO-inducing” for plus-size travellers.
