The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has appointed the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) to administer the funds remaining in the C3 Leisure Limited o/a Canada 300 Holidays trust account. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) was discharged as Judicial Trustee and has transferred the funds to TICO. Currently $282,062.37 related to 1035 claims remains unclaimed in Ontario.
PWC had held the funds in trust for distribution to legitimate claim holders of Canada 3000 Holidays. Over the years, PWC lost contact with many claimants, where refund cheques were returned and all efforts to locate claimants proved unsuccessful.
TICO has set up a process by which consumers can submit a Refund Application against C3 Leisure Limited trust funds to TICO. In order to claim, consumers must have purchased their Canada 3000 Holidays travel services from Ontario travel agencies and have previously filed a claim with the Trustee, which was approved but not paid in full. PWC has provided TICO with a list of the individuals who have an outstanding refund due to them. The list of claimant names may be found on TICO’s website at www.tico.ca where applications may also be downloaded.
Pursuant to the Court Order dated December 24, 2009, the filing deadline to submit a Refund Application to TICO is November 18th, 2012.
Formed in 1997, TICO is a not-for-profit corporation wholly financed by Ontario-registered travel agents and wholesalers. It administers the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund.
