Montreal tourism operators are expressing their disappointment over the suspension of the sole daily train service between Montreal and New York City, reports CBC News.
Amtrak made the announcement at the end of JUN, attributing the halt to speed restrictions imposed on the Canadian National Railway Co. line due to the summer heat, which can cause track irregularities.
The American railway giant cited the inconsistent application of CN's heat order policy as a potential risk to travellers, but CN pointed the finger right back, stating that Amtrak failed to fund the necessary track upgrades that could withstand high temperatures.
The Montreal-Manhattan route was only recently relaunched in APR after a three-year shutdown during the pandemic.
