United Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) have reached a contract agreement that will raise pilot pay by up to 40 per cent over four years, reports Canada.Com.
The deal, valued at around $10 billion, comes after over four years of negotiations that involved picketing and potential strike discussions. The agreement aims to bring United pilots on par with their counterparts at Delta Air Lines, who approved a similar deal earlier this year, as Open Jaw reported.
The contract, subject to a ratification vote, includes substantial increases in pay, retirement benefits, and job security. If approved, pilots will receive immediate wage-rate increases of 13.8 per cent to 18.7 per cent, followed by four smaller annual raises.
Overall, pilot pay will increase between 34.5 per cent and 40.2 per cent.
