Expedia in Deal to Power Walmart Travel

Expedia Group has partnered with Walmart to become the provider for Walmart’s travel offering, Walmart + Travel, reports Skift.

The deal allows Walmart members to access over 900,000 properties, 500+ airlines, 100+ car rental companies, and thousands of activities through Expedia’s platform. When members book travel on the Expedia-powered travel site, they are eligible to receive five per cent Walmart cash back on hotels, vacation rentals, car rentals and activities, two per cent on flights, and a “blended rate” of Walmart cash on vacation packages.

Expedia Group recently ended a similar partnership with Hopper. Notably, Hopper recently secured a deal with Uber for flight inventory and fintech products.

Expedia will handle the customer service for Walmart + Travel through live agents and AI-backed virtual agents.
