Belmond Unveils New Experiences in Southern Africa

Belmond has announced a number of new experiences in Southern Africa, from safaris and culinary delights to fashion shows and art exhibitions.

Belmond Safaris introduces ‘Stars, Sapiens and Sand’

Belmond Safaris has introduced a four-night safari experience led by specialist safari guide and anthropological researcher Paul Sheller. The safari takes place in the Okavango Delta and the Chobe Desert and includes helicopter rides, Delta boat trips, sundowners beneath baobab trees and stargazing experiences.

The experience is available until SEPT, starting at USD $8,930 per person, double occupancy.

Mount Nelson launches marine adventures

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town, has introduced marine adventures, led by marine biologist Justin Blake from the Rockhopper Fund. The adventures take place along the Cape's shoreline and include helicopter rides, whale-watching, wine-tasting, snorkelling, diving, and boat excursions.

Proceeds from these activities support the Rockhopper Fund's mission of ocean protection through science and mindful tourism.

Mount Nelson welcomes Executive Chef George Jardine

George Jardine has been appointed Executive Chef at Mount Nelson. Guests can expect menus featuring locally infused and globally relevant flavours, with many ingredients sourced from the hotel’s newly planted Cape Wild Foods Garden.

Pan-Asian Restaurant, The Red Room Launches at Mount Nelson

Dublin-born Liam Tomlin and South African chef David Schneider have launched The Red Room at Mount Nelson, transforming the former 1970s Grill Room into what aims to be Cape Town's best Pan-Asian dining experience. Guests enter through an exclusive side entrance and down an evocatively lit stairway. The menu expresses Chef Liam’s experience in pan-Asian philosophy by taking guests on a curated journey through Asia's irresistible flavors. Headed by Chef David Schneider, highlights include grilled scallops with Tom Yum foam and Kombu butter, and Peking Duck.

Mount Nelson's afternoon tea experience updated

Pastry Chef Vicky Gurovich returns to Mount Nelson after eight years, enhancing the afternoon tea experience. Guests can enjoy a variety of over sixty fine, loose-leaf teas, along with sweet and savory delicacies. Chef Vicky revitalizes the celebrated Nellie's afternoon tea, which has been enjoyed for over 34 years, with a focus on seasonality and local produce.

'An Endless Night' exhibition curated by Anelisa Mangcu

A second collaboration between the Investec Cape Town Art Fair and Mount Nelson sees the launch of the exhibition ‘An Endless Night,’ curated by interdisciplinary art practitioner and curator Anelisa Mangcu. Exploring the pressures of ordinary existence and the passage of time, artworks by nine local artists will be displayed throughout the first floor of the hotel, the bar and the lounge until 31AUG. Artists include sculptor and conceptualist Mary Sibande and photographer and multimedia stylist Trevor Stuurman.

CONFECTIONS X COLLECTIONS returns to Mount Nelson

CONFECTIONS X COLLECTIONS returns to Mount Nelson from 08-12NOV, celebrating African designers, artisanal confectionery, and "slow fashion" atelier-style fashion shows. African creativity is highlighted through five days of fashion shows, accompanied by fashion-inspired pastries and cocktails.
