Hotels In Neighbouring Waikiki And Oahu Fill Up After Maui Fires

Following the devastating West Maui wildfires, hotels in Waikiki and Oahu have seen a significant increase in occupancy as tourists and displaced individuals redirected their bookings to neighbouring Hawaiian islands, reports Travel Weekly.

According to STR data, Oahu achieved the second-highest occupancy rate in the nation during the week of 13AUG - 19AUG, marking a 7.5% year-over-year increase and reaching 88.4% occupancy.

This increase was largely attributed to the impact of the wildfires on Maui, which experienced significant declines in occupancy. While Oahu's occupancy surge may be stabilizing, authorities continue to emphasize that unaffected parts of Maui are open for tourism and business.
