The Mexican government has ordered Mexico City's old airport to cut flights by 17%, prompting concerns from airlines about potential mass cancellations, reports the National Post.
The new rules, set to take effect on 29OCT, will require a reduction in the number of flights per hour from 52 to 43.
The airport, which already faces maintenance issues, such as flooding and sewage, argues that these problems have arisen due to the government diverting its revenues to another cancelled airport project.
Airlines warn that the new rules will negatively impact passengers, airlines, and industry workers, potentially leading to significant flight cancellations.
