CBC News reports that Calgary Airport is emerging as a preferred connection hub for American travellers heading overseas.
The report says that WestJet has seen a significant increase in the number of Americans on its transatlantic flights, up nearly 70% from last summer. All of WestJet's Asia and Europe flights are based out of Calgary.
According to experts, the rise in U.S. passengers flying through Calgary can be attributed to increased international flights by WestJet, high demand, limited availability, and high prices on transatlantic flights operated by U.S. and European airlines.
